Imperial Stout aged for 15 months in 200 liter American oak barrels from Kentucky, USA. This marks the first occasion that we have used this type of barrel at Basqueland, which spent the 4 previous years maturing bourbon before being filled with beer.
When poured, the first notes are intense bourbon aromas. These continue on the palate, and are complimented by layers of cocoa, walnuts, licorice, wood and caramel. This complexity is supported by a well-rounded body, with each sip helping illustrate the passage of time.
